Or Cogeneration involves using one fuel for more than one output. Or as wikipedia says, see cogeneration. Stop for a second on consider our own bank of power plants near the Newington Malls, that smoke you see is mainly steam - or heat. What if we captured that heat and sent it to, oh I don't know...the malls. Well then the malls would have heat without burning more fuel - so the power plants would be cogenerating and the displacement of fossil fuels would be huge, HUGE!

Some interesting comparisons presented at the 2007 ACEEE Summer Proceedings show the comparison for CHP and other incentives in a dollar per carbon offset.
